But as I understand it, the drive motors in Spirit's wheels are all at about 1.5x their max design lifetime, while the drive motors in Opportunity's wheels are at about 3x their max design lifetime (probably more, given how much she's been driving recently).<br /><br />That might be a lower factor than you were expecting, but I believe the motors had a lot of extra lifetime margin built in.
